Normally I don’t think about decorating for Christmas until December, but I’m breaking the rules just a little bit by making this cute little Christmas village.
I put this together in an afternoon for less than $10!
I grabbed four Christmas houses and a pack of glitter for $1 each at Dollar Tree. If you haven’t already, check your local dollar store for holiday-themed decor and craft supplies.
I used some supplies I already had lying around to make them pretty!
Before:
You’ll Need:
- Mini village pieces
- Spray paint
- Glitter
- Optional: Battery operated tea lights, twinkle lights, faux snow, or greenery
Step One
Spray paint your houses. I used this Rustoleum paint in matte white. You could choose any color you like to match your style and decor.
I did two coats. To avoid drips, I find it best to do a light coat, let it dry, and do a second coat.
Step Two
Add some sparkle to your Christmas village!
Before your final coat of paint dries, sprinkle glitter on them.
I got the best results by pinching a little glitter between my fingers and slowly sprinkling it well above the surface of the houses. Make snow fall over the village!
Glitter got all over my work surface, but this got me the most even coat of glitter. If you get too close, it will be clumped together:
Step Three
Let everything dry while you (attempt to) clean up. With the glitter, I think you pretty much have to just let that run its course because it has a longer half life than uranium-235.
Step Four
Style your mini Christmas village to match your decor and be merry!
I added some faux snow (fun to say and also from the dollar store), greenery, and twinkle lights.
What a sweet little Christmas scene!
